Use sliced, stale bread. If bread isnt stale, toast it. Else it will absorb too much liquid. Do not add cinnamon to the egg mix. It goes better on top before serving. Can substitute half-and-half instead of milk. Might not be enough egg mix for the whole loaf. Make more as needed.

  1. Slice bread about 3/4in thick.
  2. Scramble eggs, white sugar, and milk together in a small shallow bowl. Dip the bread in the egg coating both sides, sometimes letting sit for 30 seconds per side. Cook on skillet with butter until golden brown.
  3. Top with cinnamon, maple syrup, and powdered sugar before serving.
